Personally, the existence of God really depends on the definition of God. You could say I am somewhat of the opposite of an agnostic. I admit that there is a (very) slight possibility on the existence of the stereotypical God as we know it, but I choose to live as if he exists because I am impressed by what he supposedly did. I want my personality to be a replica of his, at least in terms of inner moral strength.

According to how I interpret the New Testament, yes. The foundation of that idea came from this quote:

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, etc…

Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink, etc…

And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”

I think you are saying, but this seems rather nebulous to me, that regardless of what exists or doesn’t exist belief is all that matters?

As I’ve said, fantasy or not it’s the heart that matters. Just because it doesn’t exist is of no relevance as long as if you let it affect your life. Otherwise the entire point of the message is missed. Besides, even science requires a faith in the induction process. But that would lead the discussion into the area of philosophy. Trying to prove God should not matter in the matters of worship, but nor should it matter in the realm of science, as God’s existence has nothing to do with either.

I am an ahteist,a secular humanist but JC is an example to me about love since I read his words at age 12; he’s always a reference point. I have no problem with anyone professing JC as an example of love. On the other hand, the idea that a deity would die for humans is rather self serving and a fantasy of the imagination with little to no value whatsoever. A myth, no matter how personal we try to make it, does not suspend the laws of physics or biology to accommodate virgin births.

Yes, I agree that love exists atheists and Christians. But I don’t deny Christians the right to have JC be an example of that love. The idea that a God would become mortal and suffer mortal pains is a good example. The idea that a diety would die for people who not only doesn’t only deserve redemption, but would continue sinning despite the sacrifice, is also a good example of love. It’s something people can aim for. Of course, there can be other examples/ideas, including non-Christian ones.

Well that’s all well and good but if that’s true and I don’t disagree that it is don’t you suppose that love exists in the hearts of atheists as well as in the hearts of Christians? It’s the Christians however, who keep talking about god being some parent in the sky who doesn’t interfere yet will intercede through prayer and that the Kingdom is somewhere you go when you die. JC said that the Kingdom is within you, that’s find when the definitions are given.

Whether God exists in the physical world is irrelevant to the question of whether God exists in the heart. Only by existing in the heart would people be able to live as if God really exists, and that should be good enough for anyone. God is love, and things such as love don’t really exist beyond chemical reactions in the brain, yet they are still of vital importance. Any atheist or Christian who argues about the real existence of God misses the point JC is preaching: it’s the heart that matters.

In disasters like the Tsunami zealots defend there god by saying that God allows such things because he doesn’t interfere in human affairs. Until the next sentence that comes out of the mouth about how important to prayer to god so your prayers can be answered. On the one hand God doesn’t interfere; on the other hand God does intercede to cure an illness or yada yada yada. All part and partial of religion’s way of obfuscating the truth. There is no personal God and only people answers prayer.

My problem with the god concept is that people think God aka gravity etc, accepts them more than others. That’s the personal BS that escape religious people. If that wasn’t the case religions wouldn’t always be looking for proselytes and have contests so members can bring the most new converts to the church. Hey, that’s great for the clergy ; new members are an economic asses (assets) he can take to the bank for the new car he wants or for the Broadcast equipment to recruit more members.

You talk about the perfection of the laws of nature. Can you say that the Tsunami in 2004 that killed 230,000 peole was a sample of that perfection? So how does that perfection square with the loss of so much life also a perfect part of the universe. The God concept is surely a man created concept which is evidenced by the 10,000 plus Gods that have been created since the year dot. II have no problem accepting the natural laws of the Universe as a concept of God or the Source.

The universe and natural laws never came from anywhere., Most people get hung up on beginnings and ends but why can’t we understand that the Universe and natural laws always existed. We just haven’t lived long enough to witness evolution, let’s say over, not a hundred years and less but over thousands and millions of years. over a billion years? The universe, laws, life forces, gravity, electricity, magnetism, little matter, dark matter, big matter, no matter,

You seem to have your line of thinking packaged up quite nicely. I agree that we do attribute meaning to what/who God is. But what I’m talking about is the very existence of “God”, outside of our attributions. There are many things that are beyond human knowledge right now but are nonetheless real. My point is that the perfection and organization of the universe and the existence of natural laws EVIDENCE intelligence. You affirm these are not born of chaos. From where did they come?

I am not saying that all the laws of the universe came from chaos, whoever said that? That’s a red herring. However reason, logic and science and God are mutually exclusive, God is the Belief/Non Knowledge of men in a personal Being while the other values are based on knowledge; therefore Knowledge and Non Knowledge are mutually exclusive. The is no doubt about the beauty and conformity of gravity, electricity, magnetism, little matter, big matter, no matter, Man has created God in his image.

Why do God and logic, reason, and science have to be mutually exclusive? The more I learn about science and the beauty, perfection, and order in which this universe operates, the more I’m convinced it could not have come from Chaos. Think about it.

This song is prophetic!! Declaring the mysteries of the heavens. The Healing Rain!!! It is describing (for those who may not know) being in the presence of God and allowing the power of the Holy Ghost to fall down like rain in our lives, so that the brokenness in our lives may be mended, and that the wounds that often reside in the hearts of those who are striving to walk according to the Word of God. The healing rain comes to redeem, to restore us back to His divine will.

It could be that he got it from this passage in Hosea
“Come, let us return to the Lord. For He has tron us, and He will Heal us; He has wounded us, and He will bind up our wounds. He will revive us after two days, and on the third day He wil raise us up so we can live in his presence. Let us Strive to know the Lord. His appearance is as sure as the dawn. He will come to us like the rain, like the spring showers that water the land.” Hosea 6
