He Holds The Keys by Steve Green

This is from Steve Green’s one and only “In Concert” video from 1987. While the video may be old – the music and Steve’s voice is timeless in this very recognizable signature song.

    One of the best singers in the world at the time. The song is anointed regardless of time. Glory be to God.

    If you don’t see the talent in this man (regardless of your faith) you simply know nothing about singing.

    It is just that simple.

    All you faceless people trying to critique his singing. PLEASE! He would never want anyone to say this, because he is not singing for his own glory, but I would put his voice up against ANYONE’S. I have heard him sing in numerous styles, and when he opens up his throat? Forget it, no contest. Did he hold the note out like he normally does at the end? No, but I can tell you that I have heard him do it on numerous occasions live. Perfect? No. Better than any of you shlubs? Without a doubt.

    I was glad to see Steve Green sing at our church a couple years ago. His wife actually sang a song with him. I was surprised at how short he was. This was always one of my favorite songs by him.

    Steve Green is really one of a kind. he does not totally sing this is hard core opera style where you cant even figure out90% of the words, but in a very balanced contemporary meets opera style. amazing singer.God bless You Steve green!!

    @harleykman “too repetitive in lyrics”

    Each verse is different. And if you are referring to the chorus, a chorus–by definition–is repeated after each verse.

    I remember this song from 1987.

    I never liked it – too slow in pace, and too repetitive in lyrics.

    suddenly I feel old lol, thinking back to being a kid in the 80s, grew up with Michael Card and Steve Green then eventually SCC, Newsboys and look at them all today be it klove or power88, hard to believe Christians bash or ban contemporary Christian music, avoid the evil place lurking off 250 brent lane in pensacola, florida

    I sang this song for our Easter Cantata, and it just was so awesome. I was afraid to do it, to sing on stage, but God worked it out…and doing the song I felt like I was in God’s presence. I could let myself go and sing to Him. On that last note, halfway through it I still had a good deal more to h old and the crowd started cheering. It was an interesting sensation.

    The amazing – almost non human – aspect of Steve Green is that this video was 22 years ago and he sounds just as amazing now. He has been able to recognize how his voice has changed over the years and adapted his music to fit that voice. I just saw him in concert a couple weeks ago, and with his persmission, i will be posting a couple vids. They had to bring in extra chairs and people where standing in the foyer to hear this amazing ‘God Blessed’ communicator.

    and you’re right God chooses who he becomes close with, and that someone is “everyone” including you, thats why he hasnt come, cuz not everyone has gotten that opportunity and He does not want anyone to perish but to be saved and have a close relationship with Him

    ruggedboy1976, newhopeperu once replied:

    “Well, problem is you expected something, and God owes you and me absolutely nothing. We work with children in Arequipa, Peru, we have a home with 87 children, abused, abandoned, children that have lived for years on the streets, that have eaten out of dumpsters, filled with disease, scared from years of abuse… what possible problem could you have compared to them?”

    im afraid i have to agree with him/her.
